Cawdor Tavern is situated in the beautiful conservation village of Cawdor, close to the castle made famous by Shakespeare's Macbeth. Things to do
Cawdor Castle (9 mins by car)
Romantically linked by Shakespeare with Macbeth this superb fairy-tale Castle, is full of what every visitor is looking for... Scottish history. Cawdor Castle is not another cold monument, but a splendid house and the home of the Cawdor family to this day. World Class Golf (Castle Stuart 21 mins)
Starting off with Castle Stuart Golf Links (current home of the Scottish open) you are spoilt for choice. We are within easy reach of many famous and delightful courses. Scotland's Whisky Distilleries
At Rehiran you'll be within 45mins to Tomatin, Royal Brackla and Glen Ord and with over half the worlds malt whisky distilleries just a few miles away in Speyside, you'll be spoilt for choice. Have a look at this map for more information.

Horse Riding (28mins by car)
Just 28 minutes drive away you will find famous Logie Farm Riding Centre. The 80 acre farm is set in the beautiful Findhorn valley a mile from the road, surrounded by forests laced with tracks, beyond which lie heather-covered moors and the Cairngorm mountains.

Nairn (17 mins by car)
Take a trip to the beautiful Victorian seaside town of Nairn. In 20mins you'll be on one of the best beaches in the UK, with miles of perfect soft golden sand. Take a stroll along the seafront past the Victorian bandstand to the harbour and then into town for a bite to eat at one of the restaurants or cafes a quick look at the town hall and St Ninians Church. Moray Firth Dolphins
The Moray Firth is one of the most important
areas in UK waters for dolphins, porpoises and whales. The species most often seen from the shore are
Bottlenose dolphins and Harbour porpoises. This has led to several

Loch Ness
There aren't many more famous places in Scotland than Loch Ness. Take a trip to this magical place and you won't be disappointed. Visit Drumnadrochit where you can discover more about the legend of Nessie at the Loch Ness visitors centre or walk through the ruins of Urquhart Castle. You can even take a cruise starting from Inverness city centre. On the south side of the loch you can visit Dores, the home of RockNess and the Dores Inn with a stunning beach, well worth a visit. Inverness (27 mins by car)
Visit the capital city of the Highlands. Inverness has something for everyone, from ice skating to bowling, swimming at the leisure centre to opera at Eden court, ghost walks through the streets to Céilidhs in the local pubs and browsing the museum by the castle or the latest works of arts in the galleries, or quite possibly a bit of shopping in the Eastgate Centre. Fishing
We
are very close to the River Nairn which is aptly nicknamed the Little Gem
because for a relatively small river, it can be very productive. Both in terms of the quality of fish caught

Clava Cairns (14 mins by car)Clava Cairns is the site of an exceptionally well preserved group of prehistoric burial cairns that were built about 4,000 years ago. The Bronze Age cemetery complex comprises of passage graves, ring cairns, kerb cairn, standing stones in a beautiful setting and the remains of a chapel of unknown date. Cycling and Mountain Biking
There can be no better way to explore this area than on two wheels. Whether you bring you own bikes or hire one from here or here, there will be a route for you. Straight from Rehiran you can take a ride along smooth quiet country roads. Further a field is the coastal forest of Culbin an amazing place with leisurely cycle trails and a breathtaking view point from Hill 99. For the more adventurous try the Learnie Red Rock trails on the Black Isle.

Culloden Battlefield (18 mins by car)
Visiting Culloden the last hand-to-hand battle fought on British soil takes on a whole new meaning with the opening of an exciting new visitor centre and interactive exhibition. The battlefield itself is now restored to as close as possible that marched on by the two sides on that fateful day. Come and find out why this battle that lasted only one hour changed the way of life of the Highlands and Islands for ever.

Fort George (18 mins by car)
Fort George is quite simply the finest example of 18th-century military engineering you’ll find anywhere in the British Isles. This vast garrison fortress was begun in the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden (1746), which crushed the final Jacobite Rising. It took over 20 years to complete and in the event it was never attacked. It remains virtually unaltered today, and still serves as an important military base.
